Sevrene® TPEs and Sevrite™ TPEs, Vi-Chem Corporation's lines of products for airbag cover use, combine the mandatory mechanical characteristics across a broad temperature range, with the ease of processing, which results in good part consistency.

Sevrene and Sevrite TPEs are available in grades specifically designed for each type of airbag cover construction; 1 component or 2 component.

There are also grades available that provide the necessary scratch resistance without painting, across the full interior color spectrum.

Driver side airbags:

The Sevrene line of driver side airbag cover products is highlighted by Sevrene 1160, which provides scratch resistance even in dark colors. This allows elimination of the costs associated with painting.

Should painted products be desired, Sevrene TPE grades are available for both 1 and 2 component constructions. All the Sevrene TPE grades can be color matched to the full spectrum of automotive interior colors.

Passenger side airbags:

Like the driver side products, the Sevrene TPE line of passenger side airbag cover products is designed to provide optimum performance over a wide temperature range. Products for 1 component construction are available in either paintable (such as Sevrene 1778) or scratch resistant, pre-colored grades (such as Sevrene 1130).

Special grades of Sevrene TPEs are available for 2 component airbag cover designs. These include designs using mechanical locking, and both skins and substrates where mechanical locking is not utilized.

Side impact airbags:

The growing demand for side impact airbag systems places unique property requirements on the airbag cover material. Vi-Chem Corporation has Sevrene and Sevrite TPE grades that meet current design demands, and others under development for future needs.

Applications : Automotive : Interior : Instrument and Door Panels

Vi-Chem's Interion® line of slush moldable compounds are ideally suited for the increased performance demands in automotive instrument and door panel manufacture.

The vinyl series of these products provides varying levels of performance, from basic for soft door panels, through long-term heat aging performance for standard instrument panels, to enhanced cold temperature performance for instrument panels with integrated airbags.

The Interion TPE line provides further long-term heat and cold temperature capability for the ultimate in instrument panel performance.

Applications : Automotive : Interior : Soft Trim

Vi-Chem vinyl and TPE products are available in extrusion, injection and blow molding grades. These materials are ideally suited for manufacturing color-matched parts, such as armrests, headrests, grab handles, console covers, bin mats and cupholders.

These stringent plastic compound products also meet the automotive requirements for low fog. While the Sevrene and Sevrite line of TPE products are inherently low in gloss, Vi-Chem also has a line of low gloss vinyl products, providing matched color parts at gloss levels less than 3. This allows elimination of painting or gloss control topcoats, providing substantial cost savings.

Also available is a line of cold temperature performance products, providing sub zero flexibility, necessary for applications such as shift boots.

Applications : Automotive : Interior : Steering Wheels

Successful steering wheel materials require excellent scuff resistance and dry feel.

Vi-Chem has both vinyl products, plus a line of TPUs specifically developed to meet the rigors of these parts.

The TPU line, called Uravin™ TPU, can even withstand the long-term durability requirements of the heavy truck industry.

And, as with the vinyl products, Uravin TPUs are colorable.
