Vi-Chem Corporation Expands TPE Line
for Automotive Interior Applications

Grand Rapids, Michigan -- Vi-Chem Corporation, a leading manufacturer of thermoplastic elastomers and vinyl compounds, has expanded their SevreneÔ line of TPEs to include a Series designed for manufacturing automotive interior parts. This product line, called Sevrene 3000 Series of TPEs, is a styrenic block copolymer based thermoplastic elastomer providing superior interior automotive performance compared to current TPO and vinyl systems.

“The automotive industry has been looking for ways to enhance performance of their interior parts, especially in the areas of weathering and fogging,” said Vi-Chem Vice-President & General Manager Leonard Slott. “While the latest vinyl products from Vi-Chem meet or exceed all current fogging and weathering requirements, these Sevrene TPEs provide the next level of improvement in fog resistance and UV stability.”

In addition, Vi-Chem Corporation utilizes their over 20 years of in-house, color matching expertise to provide pre-colored products in the Sevrene 3000 TPE series, said William Greer, Vi-Chem Sales & Marketing Manager. Vi-Chem has been precisely color matching plastic to exterior automotive metallic paint, so providing accurate, weatherable pre-colored Sevrene TPEs are ‘a walk in the park’. The Sevrene 3000 Series TPEs also provide a nice dry feel, or ’hand’ for customer aesthetics, and the required scratch, stain and tear resistance required by tough automotive interior specifications. Their performance, feel, combined with excellent processing characteristics, has lead them to be specified in future OEM interior parts, such as armrests, head rests, grab handles, door pulls, shift knobs and console covers.”
